NOTES — Located on the Las Vegas Strip between Circus Circus and Stardust, the resort opened in 1963. The 15 acres the property was on it was rectangular shaped from Las Vegas Boulevard to South Industrial Road. The hotel was run and operated by the Petersen family. In the history of Las Vegas, it was one of a few resorts to be owned and operated by a local family. For a time, it billed itself as the world’s largest motel. Casino gaming did not come to the resort until 1971. On the gaming front, the casino had craps, blackjack, roulette and Let it Ride. A fan of locals and true action seekers, Westward Ho was known for having low table minimums. Some of the games had $1 minimum bets.
