NOTE — Boulder City was established in 1931, to house the workers who built Boulder Dam. The government tried to keep the workers in line by banning gambling, drinking, and prostitution. In 1969 the ban on liquor was lifted. Boulder City is a clean, pretty, small town with a fun little shopping area. There are no casinos in the city, but there are some nearby. Well…there's one, anyway! It was Fort Lucinda then became the Gold Strike, rebranded as the Hacienda, and is now the Hoover Dam Lodge…which houses 4 mini casinos (Bourbon Street, Dotty's, Red Dragon, La Vallita) in addition to a regular casino.
