NOTES — Letter Dee:
Dee:Can you help me with identification of an Apache 50-cent chip that is not in the Chip Guide?
The chip has been canceled on one side with a saw blade like most chips are currently taken out of use.
I am not sure but my theory is that when the Tribe adopted the "Diamond" mold for their table chips the tribe phased out the other chips to standardize the chip colors and molds in play. I believe they even changed the name to Apache Casino and made all the Fort Sill Apache and Fort Sill chips obsolele.
Looking at the casino's chips in the CG, there have been 3 chips used as the "per hand" tax to play. and when they made the second change, the fifty-cent one looked too much like the $5 that was the same color and design. If that's correct, they removed the 50-Cent Red and cancelled every red 50-cent chip I have found because of the confusion. I am going to submit it to the Chip Guide in it's cancelled state so we can document for the record that there was some kind of problem with the color.
Can you add anything to this scenario or have a different explanation about this chip's history
Any information you can find will be helpful.
Thanks

P.S. — Didn't make the convention this year due to my wife was in the hospital for an extended care issue and I needed to be with her as she finally recovered enough to come home to our house. Did you go?
